Food Hub
For Families:
We currently serve nearly 400 families each week. If you are on our service list, please ensure you respond to our email to confirm your grocery spot.
Unfortunately our waitlist is full, and we are unable to add any new families at this time. Please check back here periodically for updates. If you are already on the waitlist, we will contact you by phone and email when a grocery spot becomes available.
How it works:
Tuesdays (end of Sept)
Wednesdays - 10am - 1pm
Thursdays - 5pm - 6:30pm
Raphael House operates a weekly Food Hub for families within Langley and School District 35. Roughly 50% of our items are donated, while the remaining 50% is purchased directly from a wholesale and retail supplier. Families can come and access free, healthy groceries at an assigned time and day. Some examples of items that can be received are fresh vegetables, milk, eggs, cheese, bread, diapers, and more.
Frequently
Asked
Questions
-
Families living in Langley and School District 35 with children under 18 are eligible. While our wait list is closed, please connect with your child's school for more information.
-
We contact eligible families each month and confirm their assigned time slot. Every month, the time shifts forward by 15 minutes.
-
If families do not come for 2 weeks in a row without communicating, they will be released from eligibility, but can be put back on the wait list if requested. Please let us know ASAP if anything prevents you from attending your time slot.
-
If a family moves outside of Langley, or if their youngest child turns 18, families are no longer able to access the Food Hub.
-
We currently have had to close our wait list, as it contains over 120 families. If you are in need of food assistance, please contact your child's school for more resources.
-
Some families "graduate" from eligibility, either through improved circumstances or moving outside of Langley. We conduct regular inventory of our groceries and check in weekly with our eligible families, so that we can move up others from the wait list as soon as we are able.
-
It is difficult to say, but as our wait list exceeds 120 families as of September 2024, if you only recently joined our wait list it may be a few months before we are able to move you up.
-
Weekly groceries vary, but you can expect a mix of dried goods, fresh produce, perishable products like dairy and meat, along with other cooking staples. Infant products can be available if needed.
-
We try to keep kosher/halal/vegetarian options in stock as much as possible; however, with the very high cost in meat these days, supplies are limited.
-
Parking is available along Douglas Crescent and surrounding streets, or at Douglas Park. Parking is not available in Fuller Lane or at the Alano Club next door.
